Interstate Transport Methods
There are many methods of sending your household items interstate, with some being more costly than others. The first question you should be asking your interstate removalist is if your goods will be going by road or rail?
Road is the traditional transportation method for interstate removals with services such as backloading/shared consignment and V.I.P./Individual consignment. Backloading is traditionally the cheapest road based service, however if you are relocating to a major city and have a lot of items, you should seriously consider sending your goods by rail.
Rail is not only more often than not faster than road services, but is also an extremely cost effective solution. It is worth noting that there will be some instances where rail won’t be a viable interstate removals option depending on location and amount of goods needing to be moved.

Terrible customer service and experience.
We asked specifically for a bigger truck because of the number of fragile items required to be moved. We agreed to pay at a higher rate because of this.
On the day of moving, a small truck arrived. The removalists spent significant amount of time trying to fit everything into the truck and calling their manager to ask for advice. Unfortunately, they were not able to fit everything into the truck without damaging our belongings.
Holloway agreed for us to complete two trips without charging the travel time for the second trip. After the move, I was surprised to see the bill as we were charged the travel time (just over 2.5 hours in total or approx. $500). Our total bill was so much higher than what it should have been (over $2100) for a two-bedroom apartment.
We raised this concern the following day only to be told that the issues will be investigated and rectified within 24-48 hours. It’s been over 72 hours now, and I have not heard any updates. This is very disappointing as money was taken from my account straightaway and there has been 0 communication since I last called.
To make the matter worse, one of the removalists hit the wall in our apartment with one of our items. The removalist admitted to this and I already provided the photo evidence via email (as requested). I was informed that compensation will be provided on the moving day but I have not received anything or heard back regarding this for 4 business days now.
It’s been a very frustrating experience to say the least. I hope that Holloway steps up and takes responsibility. I understand that mistakes happen but please fix these problems so that we can all move forward.
EDIT: Holloway took responsibility and refunded $907. They also got my wall fixed. I wish the communication was a bit better throughout this process. However, I was happy with the final outcomes, and the reviews were edited accordingly.
This removal company is excellent. The two men who moved our furniture from Frankston to Corinella on the 8/8/25 were hard working, polite and respectful of our belongings and us. I obtained many quotes pre move and decided on the hourly rate through this company and lm so glad l did. Highly recommend.
Reliable, good value service and helpful staff for nearly a decade. Holloways and previously Metrobox cared for my removals and storage for many years so I'm really grateful to them forever and would recommend them to everyone.
On the phone, they are always helpful but other communications sometimes get mangled and prices have recently increased
